Free Link to ask Yahoo about their SEM program
A couple of weeks ago, my marketing manager at my new job asked me if I would like to go down to Yahoo’s “Advertiser Workshop” in San Diego to see what they are up to these days. I said “of course” since it was a great chance to confirm some of the rumors I have been hearing about Yahoo’s new PPC program (yes . . even newer than Panama) and also to learn what kind of new initiatives they are going to be taking to get their company in gear.
By pure coincidence, Ms. Danielle will be at the same conference so we’ll be able to hang again. I still can’t believe it’s been over a month and a half since I have stopped working with Danielle at our old office, but I’m sure it’s going to be like old times again when we go to this conference together.
Anyways, to the point of this email. I wanted to invite all my readers to submit questions they would like me to ask Yahoo representatives while I’m at this conference. No relevant question will be denied as I know a lot of you do not get to have this kind of opportunity, since getting help from customer service is as hard as landing a date with Jessica Alba (this goes for Google as well, so don’t think I’m playing favorites).
Here are some example questions to get your creative juices flowing:
What steps are you taking to gain market share in the SEM Market to a level where you can realistically compete with Google?
Why are your minimum bids twice as much as Googles?
Why didn’t you merge with MSN to give yourself a fighting chance against Google?
So, if you can think of any questions you will want to ask, please leave a comment with your question and I will compile these questions into a list. I promise to get all the questions answered to the best of my abilities and post the answers once I get them all. As an added benefit, I will link to those sites who’s author have asked high quality questions that will make yahoo people nod and say “damn . . that guy’s asking some damn good questions. We should take him out to dinner afterwards to get to know the guy!” OK . . i don’t have to go to dinner, but you get the point. Ask good questions and you shall be rewarded - a link to any article you want with any anchor text you want. Remember, I have some pr4 and pr5 posts, so feel free to increase my page views by looking for them:)
I look forward to hearing what you all have to ask. By the way, the conference is this thursday, Sep 17th, so cut off is Wednesday night. . . . also, if you can do me a favor and give a WTF vote for this post, I’d greatly appreciate it!

i’d like to know if they’re going to eventually license google’s algorithm, sort of like how ford licenses toyota’s hybrid technology. my guess is probably not. so i’ll probably end up asking about how they plan to make their platform more user-friendly — i.e. load time, back button usage, more integrated features. put simply, their back end really really sucks (brian and i went through YSM together last week and even he started getting really upset)
All these Google-esque upgrades are quick fixes. They need to do something completely different to beat Google. And my guess is that such a change will hit us outta nowhere.
When is that conference again? Thursday 17th Sept??
google works. i doubt ysm will ever launch something out of nowhere that will beat their algo. it’s all based on relevancy and they haven’t figured out the formula yet. but i’d love to be proven wrong…
there’s one on wednesday too . . but yes, there’s one on the 17th as well
i guess no one really cares about what yahoo’s doing . . hahahaha . . . well, i’ll find out as much as I can for everyone
I really don’t know what are Yahoo marketing policies, for me the most pertinent question is what Yahoo intends to do with MyblogLog? Would they add new services or maybe Ads, given that mybloglog is Ad free. Also ask them why they continue to overload their homepage. thanks
thats a good point. I thin their main page has too much crap. it used to be so easy to navigate but now i dont even go there anymore. I use msn, its easier on my eyes.
