So I’ve been basically at this for about a month and I think I’ve built a pretty good foundation for this blog with some decent content and layout. Minus getting the Top Related Post Plugin to work for me (where are you Wasabi?), everything I’ve wanted to do with site has been pretty easy to implement.
Now that I have the blog built, I really would like to increase the amount of traffic coming to the site. Aside from posting comments on other sites like Career Ramblings and entering iPod Contests like the one on Productivity501, I started to compile a small list of high priority items I need to do to increase traffic.
- Submit to More Directories - KingNomar.com has a great post about getting some free traffic and also increasing your PR Ranking by linking to these free directories that happen to have very high PR scores. Some of these sites also ask you to post articles, so you could probably use one of your more popular ones like my “Tyra-Tyra-Tyra” to link back to your site.
Benefits:
- Increases Traffic by putting the site in front of more eyes
- Increases Page Rankings
- Creates another Backlink to your site
- Improve the Content of the Site with More of my Insight on Internet Marketing - John Chow proved that by using his own personal experiences and sharing them to the blogosphere through Tips and Strategy Articles, people will soon pass the world around and word of mouth advertising will start. So far, I’ve just been posting about other site news or random stuff. I’ve been in the game for a good while now, so I know I can parlay that experience into some high quality content I hope people will appreciate and be able to use for themselves. I know a lot of you don’t blog about internet marketing, so just take this - become an expert in whatever your blog is about. Go to the bookstore and read books and/or surf online for other experts in your field. Develop the passion and the content will just ooze out.
Benefits:
- Increase Traffic from other blogs linking to the Content
- Creates Word of Mouth Advertising
- Purchasing Ads - To be honest, I really don’t know when I’m going to purchasing ads to get traffic to my site. I would really like to understand my eCPM first before I blindly invest in network ads on Google, Adbrite or Yahoo. I know for sure that I will be doing this, but this looks like it’s going to take a couple of months.

Make sure to monitor the quality of the ads, but try out goclick.com for ads
This is a good start but you should sit down and write out a monetization strategy. I’m sure as you’ve seen John Chow has multiple sources of good monthly income. That was very well planned out on his part.
Solid plan Gary. I’ll be interested to see how things go for you. Keep us posted.
Your participation in blogs is well noticed. Keep it up. Your blog is really looking sharp!
Thanks for the comments! The monetization plan makes a lot of sense for me, so I really need to crunch a lot of numbers this month. I will try to track my progress and keep everyone posted in upcoming blogs.
