I have been holding out on the iphone. I read tons of stuff BEFORE the release about the second generation. SHOULD I wait, or Am I waiting for nothing? I am dying to get one. I have been staying clear of the Mac store and the AT&T store just because I know I won't be able to stop myself.
Are all the reviews good so far? I had to stop checking after the first day, because I was still green with envy!
Maybe I can win the iphone from your site..

Those are some good points - especially the photo lab one, personally, I just use Internet printing...

As for sharing media, you could install iTunes all machines and share the "server's" library (you could set up a network shared drive and "stream" the tunes through Explorer - but that is a very inefficient way of doing it)!

I guess browsing might be handy but I've never "browsed" iTunes. I simply want to place and remove media I already have onto the device. My problem is we have 4 computers in the house and more at work. I also need to share media with friends and clients. Using an iPhone would likely involve installing iTunes on all of them.

I'm frustrated because there seems to be no "Need" for this. My 2Gig USB drive works like a charm. No need to install software or sync the device, etc... Just plug it in and it works... "Everywhere". I use it for everything. I use it to take my digital pictures to the photo-lab and keep sales presentations on it for when I'm meeting with a client, etc, etc.

If the iPhone could perform this very simple and extremely useful task, I would get one.

Now that I think about it... I even have USB cable for my camera. No need to use iTunes or any other software to transfer media on or off my camera.

Can you do this with an iPhone? Can you just show up at the photo lab, plug the iPhone into the kiosk and transfer the images for developing?

(In my opinion) This is the very most basic requirement. I just think it's strange that such a sophisticated Multi-Media device like this can not transfer media across multiple computers without first being enclosed inside the walled garden of iTunes.
