A lot of my friends wonder how the hell I have enough time to work and participate in the blogosphere at the same time. Basically, I tell them what I tell my clients - Blogs take time, but they save time too! Here are some instances as to why:
- Saves time from writing Multiple Emails to customers to tell them about what’s going on at your business
- Saves time and money by not having to set up a full customized website. You can instead download free blogging software and install free themes that fit the theme of your company.
- Saves time from having to write fancy and grammatically perfect press releases as opposed to just updating a blog that has a more personal, conversation type delivery. More often than not, your customers will respond better and faster to your blog as opposed to a press release as they have the option of commenting to ask questions or offer their 2cts on the announcement.
- With a RSS Reader, you can catch up with 2-3 times more news by subscribing to your favorite blogs. Many of the top newspapers around are starting to present their sites in blog format with RSS Feeds to all their sections. I forgot who said it, but they were right - “Information is Power,” so get as much of it as you can as fast as you can!
- Blogging software such as wordpress and blogger give you the ability to instantly update your site, instead of contacting your web designer to do it for you. Think about all those times you were frustrated while waiting for your webmaster to fix the incorrect spelling or prices of your products!
These are very simple points that can counter arguments that Blogging takes time because of how much you have to write and how much you have to comment. If you really think about it, needing to write more and comment more because your readers are responding to your blog should never be looked at as a time waster anyways.
