Sharing my Favorite Blogs and Blog Posts

Posted in Observations on February 22nd, 2007

bookmarks.pngSo I’ve started this new blog and I’m suppose to share my observations of what I see and have seen on the internet. I’m going to share some of the best blog posts I’ve actually bookmarked before starting this blog, so if it comes off pretty random, you’re right - it is!

WomensPersonalFinance.net: 46 Things I wish My Mom Taught Me About Money
I forgot how I found this blog, but when I started my business in 2006, I wanted to make sure that I did everything I could to make the most of the money I earned, either through mutual funds, savings accounts, playing the market and real estate. It’s a great blog that I’ve passed on to many of my friends and family who have just graduated from school and want to take the “right” first step towards financial independence.

TheCoolHunter.net / MocoLoco.com
I posted a picture that I found earlier from thecoolhunter and that’s just a taste of what else you can find on this site. MocoLoco is more a modern contemporary blog site that just highlights some of the very best of modern contemporary from all over the world. I like different things. That’s just my personality and even though both of these sites aren’t updated on a daily basis, I do go back and visit them at least once a week.

Experienced People - 101 Ways to Make Money Online
I found this blog through digg.com and thought it was just a very interesting read. I didn’t have time to go through the whole 101 ways on the first day of reading it, so I bookmarked it and it has been in my folder ever since. Lucky for them as now they’ve made it onto my blog!

SEOPedia.org - 101 Web Marketing Ideas and Tips
A colleague of mine referred me over to this blog late last year and I thought it was an excellent post. Even though I work on a lot of marketing projects, a refresher course like this kind of lets you step back and look at the broader picture of the campaign to see if you can take a different approach. It’s a great tool to use if you know you’re set in your ways and you need to change up the pace a little, but just don’t know quite how.

Apartment Therapy
The typical bachelor usually lives in a apartment with blank white walls, an ikea desk, a stanky couch and a tv plopped on top of a cardboard box, so that’s why I am thankful for apartmenttherapy.com. This site has been a favorite of mine for a couple of years now because of the simple tips they provide on how to spruce up your place (to impress the ladies, ya know?) One great feature of the site is that it caters to specific cities - New York, Chicago, San Francisco & Los Angeles - as each city has it’s own culture tastes.

Yes, I did everything myself - paint, fixtures, hung the frames and arranged the lights. It was a proud day. Also, AT (as they like to call themselves) has a section where they find great deals on furniture on Craigslist.org and post them, so you don’t have to go searching for them yourself.

Samantha Power - “Why Can’t We?”
I have to admit, I didn’t find this blog through digg or through a friend or through someone else’s blog. I heard Samantha Power speak at my friend’s Santa Clara Law School graduation ceremony. To be honest with you, I’m not a big fan of graduation speeches, especially from Guest Speakers who usually deliver the same type of speeches. Once the speech started, i secretly plugged into my ipod to listen to the latest TWIT podcast, but in a silent moment between Dvorak’s emotional outbursts and Leo’s on the fence commentary, I heard something that caught my attention - laughter! This wasn’t your typical graduation speech and this wasn’t your typical graduation speaker. So, I decided to pause the podcast and give Miss Power 2 minutes. Well, she took the 2 minutes to make me put put away my ipod for good that morning.

Thanks for these. I am going to further research the 101 ways… article and also the how to decorate in LA site. I could use a little extra interior design knowledge.
