I think that is a great idea, I’m a college student and I don’t know how many times I have lost papers I was working on because of a power outage. I have thought about getting a laptop because of this, but I’m poor so I can’t yet.

It probably has something to do with weight/size and the amount of heat it must generate.

I lost power last night in the middle of a blog post but luckily the new Firefox is capable of restoring lost sessions. This has inspired me to be on the lookout for a UPS that will last for at least 15 minutes.

But, I do feel your pain.

Yeah, I have a UPS too - although, we just had a power surge and the backup died! Better it then my computer!!

As desktops consume more power than a laptop, the batteries have to be a bit larger. A cheap UPS option would work.

Yea a cheap UPS can last 5-10 minutes, enough for brownouts or to save your work before shutting down.

Don’t they have those UPS boxes you can plug your desktop into ? I don’t know too many details about them, I just remember there used to be one on my computer at work a few years ago. In case the power went down, it would kick in and would last for an hour or so.
I know that’s not incorporated, but it’s still a solution to the problem
